• Hawaii is the most geographically isolated population center on earth. The Hawaiian Islands are 2,000 miles from the Marshall Islands; 2,390 miles from California; 2,500 miles from Tahiti; 3,850 miles from Japan; 4,900 miles from China; and 5,280 miles from the Philippines.

"Dana and I got married and honeymooned in Maui February 6 to 22, 2004. The most memorable part of the stay were all the beautiful beaches, animals and surroundings. We are from Alaska and our family has always dreamed of going to Hawaii, so we decided to get married there to fulfill our dreams.
"The only thing I would do differently is take fewer people on the trip, since catering to everyone is a little difficult!
"We met so many great people on our travels across the island from the pastor at the church in Makena, who made us feel he had known us our entire lives, to the wedding singer who remembered what songs he sung at our wedding and the photographer who invited us to his home to swim in his pool. Our instructor on the snorkel trip to Molokini and turtle town was awesome! We spent the entire time on the boat talking with her about Hawaii and how she really wanted to follow the whales to our home state of Alaska. We invited her to our house anytime she could make it.
"The people we met in Maui will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever...what wonderful and special people they really are. We have been trying to finance another trip back again next year; it truly is Paradise."
