Kapalua Resort, 10 miles past Lahaina on Maui's northwest coast, is surrounded by three challenging and scenic championship courses continually ranked among the nation's best: the Village Course, the Bay Course and the Plantation Course. Home to the season-opening PGA TOUR Mercedes-Benz Championship each January, Kapalua Resort was named the "#1 Golf Resort in Hawaii" by Travel + Leisure Golf's 2006 World's Best Golf Resorts reader survey. Kapalua Resort's premier instruction facility, the 23-acre Kapalua Golf Academy, is the only one of its kind in Hawaii — offering instruction, video analysis and the largest PGA teaching professional staff in the state.

Just down the road in Ka'anapali, you'll find the Tournament North Course and the Resort South Course. Both courses offer sweeping coastal panoramas. The Tournament North Course is one of only two courses in the state designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. This course challenges golfers with huge, rolling greens and unpredictable trade winds. The recently renovated Resort South Course combines narrow fairways with subtle greens to create an all-level golfing experience. Check out Ka'anapali's afternoon Wine & Nine special available for two with a take-home golf caddie bag.

Expect greens fees at championship courses to exceed $100. Fees at municipal and private courses tend to range from $30 to $70.
