When giant winter waves make kayaking the Na Pali Coast treacherous, most tour providers take their tours to the South Shore where the waters are calmer. A day-long tour might follow an 8- to 10-mile path from Po'ipu to Port Allen, launching in the early morning with landings at secluded beaches and plenty of opportunity to spot spinner dolphins, green sea turtles and humpback whales. Ask if snorkeling is also part of the tour agenda.
